Sick of sitting on the phone, hoping against hope for a table at the French
Laundry? Now, you can go online for a shot at the nation's toughest
reservation.
Starting today, the French Laundry will offer a small number of tables
through OpenTable.com. The restaurant has set aside a table for two at 6
p.m. and a table for four at 9:30 p.m. each day. Two tables for lunch will
be available for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The catch is that the restaurant only takes reservations two months in
advance to the day. And everyone in the world will likely be mousing hard
for those tables.
The bright side is that if an online booker cancels, the slot will be
available immediately.
